New 19 inch
FreeStanding Kiosk

In December we released our new 19 inch FreeStanding Kiosk made out of Brushed Stainless Steel. Advanced Kiosks is the only kiosk company that sells a Stainless Steel kiosk. Why? The answer comes from our President Howard Horn: “Brushed Stainless Steel (SST) is a hard material to work with. The end result is beautiful but only if the finish is not damaged during the production process or when welding the parts together. To get around these problems, we borrowed some technology from the military to make these kiosks. We now glue them together with some very high tech glue. The end result is a beautiful, durable kiosk built to withstand the worst of environments.”

One of our first customers of the new 19” FreeStanding Kiosk was the Nicphillips Group, for the GERALD HINES EXHIBITION at the American Institute of Architects Museum in Houston, Texas. Renowned lighting and set designer Mr. Nicholas Phillips selected the 19 inch SST Freestanding kiosk for the exhibit himself.

“SST was the look I wanted for this project since the kiosk is the e-version of HINES, the new book about renowned developer Gerald Hines. The kiosk was an integral object in the exhibit rather than a computer with pictures on it. Advanced Kiosks bent over backward to meet my short timeline and I am very pleased with their latest product which really is one of a kind”. Nicholas Phillips

The Customer

Harvard University Dining Services (HUDS) is the oldest and one of the largest self-operated collegiate foodservice operators in America. Their commitment to quality and mission is best communicated by their website where the Executive Director of HUDS wrote “Harvard University Dining Services (HUDS) is an award-winning industry leader. Our staff takes the well-being and satisfaction of everyone on campus very personally. Here’s what you can expect from HUDS: cuisine that will entice and educate you, and people who will welcome you with open arms.”

In July, Advanced Kiosk’s proposal beat out many other companies for the HUDS project to install display monitors and kiosks in all 13 of the Harvard University student dining facilities. These kiosks and 42 inch monitors would be used to educate the students on the food they eat as well as HUDS work in environmentalism, services and the food literacy project.

The Project
The project specification called for installation and testing of 14 kiosks, 15 display monitors, kiosk software, display monitor control software and kiosk remote access software in each of Harvard University’s dining facilities. Advanced Kiosks software engineers worked closely with the HUDS IT department on customization and

configuration of the kiosk software and system setup, while concurrently the Advanced Kiosks installation team installed Compact Power or FreeStanding Kiosks and display monitors in the dining facilities. Advanced Kiosks software engineers configured the system so that all the Display monitor and kiosk screen saver images were pulled from a conveniently located computer. When Advanced Kiosks finished installing the kiosk system for HUDS we were then asked by Harvard University to install 10 more Kiosks in a variety of University Building.

The Results

Between HUDS and Harvard University, a total of 24 kiosks and 15 Display Monitors were installed at Harvard University. These kiosks and 42 inch monitors will be used to educate the students about the food they eat, HUDS work in Environmentalism, HUDS Services and the Food Literacy Project. With the University buying into the project and adding 10 more kiosks to the system, a whole new dynamic was created. Harvard University now has a new way to communicate to the students quickly, without the cost or mess of posters and flyers. The University and HUDS are now constantly coming up with new ideas to communicate with students using the Kiosks.
